Staged in partnership with du, Against All Odds is an Entrepreneur Middle East Live webinar series that features enterprising women who have risen above personal and professional challenges to develop solutions, launch businesses, and lead global initiatives that make them inspirational role models around the world.

In this edition of Against All Odds, we talk to Professor Sue Black, OBE, a computer scientist, social entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for women in tech. She is the founder of BCSWomen, the first British online network for women in tech, as well as of #techmums, a social enterprise that empowers mothers and their families through technology.

Having spent the last 20 years campaigning for more recognition and support for women in computing, Professor Black has been named as one of InspiringFifty's top 50 women in tech in the United Kingdom in 2018, and she was also the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Lovie Awards 2018.

When asked whether following one's passion was key to having a successful career, Professor Black replied, "If you enjoy everything that you are doing, you have to do well at it. With all sorts of things that I have done over the last 20 to 30 years, I've tried moving my career towards the things I love doing the most. Now, everything that I do as part of my job as a professor at Durham University I absolutely love. I think that following your passion makes your life easier, because you are doing things that you want to be doing."
